Shackleton

Shackleton is a very well executed historical film. It depicts historical events in a natural and believable way while also making the story exciting.

Historical films pose a challenge by entailing too many expectations and by disallowing too much flexibility with regards to the plot. Shackleton handles this perfectly, and despite being almost three and a half hours long, there are no dull moments. The success of this film is mainly driven by skilful and credible performances. The whole thing looks very natural and well coordinated - nobody outperforms anybody else, and so the audience can get immersed in the story without any distractions.

Shackleton is definitely a classic and an excellent choice whether you want to find out about this exciting historical figure or you're just looking for an interesting film for the evening.

Spoiler alert: Features a lot of snow!
